At Knik Charter School, our goals are centered on honoring Alaska Native culture and values while providing world-class educational opportunities. We aim to foster academic and social-emotional success through a supportive, standards-based approach, with a strong emphasis on STEAM education, personalized learning, and community engagement. By instilling pride in indigenous knowledge and values, we prepare students to become leaders in their chosen paths, equipped with the skills to thrive in their communities and beyond.

We believe in respecting elders, embracing family and cultural identity, and caring for both people and the land. Our guiding principles include honesty, humility, hard work, and a strong sense of connection to all things. We teach patience, responsibility, and the importance of sharing and community. KCS offers three flexible enrollment options to cater to diverse family needs:

In-Person Learning (K-12): A traditional classroom setting focusing on individual student interests, strengths, and weaknesses, while honoring and respecting indigenous cultures throughout the educational process.

Blended Learning (K-12): A combination of homeschool and in-person learning where students attend selected courses on campus but are primarily correspondence students.

Statewide Correspondence (K-12): All learning and teaching occur from the comfort of home, providing flexibility for families.

Our curriculum emphasizes:

STEAM Education: Offering world-class opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

Career and Technical Education (CTE): Programs in welding, aviation, drones, construction, computers, subsistence, personal finance, and economics, often in partnership with Knik Tribe's Benteh STEAM Academy. (Link to Benteh STEAM Academy site when final domain address is approved)

Cultural and Subsistence Activities: Engaging students in traditional practices such as fishing, berry picking, hunting, food preservation, and more, aligned with the subsistence calendar.
